JAIPUR ROCKS WITH BLASTs - 80 KILLED & 150 INJURED

JAIPUR: Terror struck yet again — this time in Jaipur, at the busiest market, at the busiest hour, aimed with chilling precision to kill, maim, terrify and cleave the country. At last count, the toll was 80 killed, and with over 150 injured, it could go up.

The first blast took place at 7.20pm on Tuesday in the crowded Johari Bazaar and within 15 minutes seven more blasts occurred in adjoining areas in the walled city — near the Hanuman Mandir, which was milling with devotees, near Hawa Mahal, at Badi Chaupad, Tripolia Bazar and Chandpole.

Within minutes, the entire market was a picture of total chaos. People ran screaming, jumping over dead bodies and severed limbs, skirting mangled rickshaws and damaged cars. The piercing wail of ambulance sirens replaced the firecrackers that would go off every other day in Jaipur to celebrate its victorious Rajasthan Royals T20 team.

Terrorists displaying the telltale tactics of Lashkar-e-Taiba and SIMI struck with bombs planted on cycles and cycle-rickshaws. In the past three years, this is the 21st terror attack outside Jammu & Kashmir. Chief minister Vasundhara Raje said, "We will not tolerate this."

Police later arrested a man from Mumbai. Rajasthan's director general of police, A S Gill, said the attacks were designed to cause maximum damage and the sites had been picked with care. He confirmed that bombs had been planted on brand- new Avon cycles. Similar cycle blasts on September 8, 2006, in Malegaon, Maharashtra, had killed 38 people during a Muslim festival day. Bombs on cycles were also used for the attack on the Faizabad court.

The Malegaon attacks were blamed on LeT and the banned Students' Islamic Movement of India.

The Jaipur attack might have been worse had three unexploded bombs not been defused in the walled city area. Another bomb was defused in the upmarket Raja Park area, triggering fresh fears. Mercifully, the city was keeping calm.

7 Blasts took off at crowded places in a span of 12 minutes. According to sources the intensity of the blast was low, and RDX usage has been ruled out. The home ministry sources suspect Bangladesh-based Harkut-ul-Jehadi Islami to be behind the blasts.

The serial blast took place within a two km radius. The bombs went off at the Hanuman temple, Manas Chowk , Johari Bazar, Badi Choupal, Tripolia Bazar and Choti Choupal. All the places were packed with people when the blast occurred. It is feared the toll may go up further. Blood splattered every where and some victims thrown several feet up.

Being a Tuesday, the hanuman temple at Tripolia bazaar was flooded with devotees.

RAF (Rapid action force) has been deployed and security beefed up. Securities have been increased in major cities including Delhi and Mumbai.

The menace of terrorism is here to stay, with different targets, different places, unless the Government takes bold steps to curb terrorism and its sponsors.

• One of the blasts took place near our shop in tripolia bazar. the blast shattered our & many shop lights and my mamaji (uncle) had to run for his life after watching 3 dead instantly in front of him. Because the car park is behind the main market, he had to rush for his car; crossing the deadly path. We in dubai are so scared and concerned for the safety of our parents in Jaipur. Despite taking rapid actions in finding those behind the blast, the state government shamefully announced a price sum for the dead & injured. Insult to the injury is the fact that authorities were beforehand warned about the possible attack but no action was taken. It was terrifying listening the scary voice of my parents on phone :(:( we need an answer from the Indian government- Praveen Moolchandani - Dubai (Rooted in Jaipur)

• Will Indian government and West Bangal givet will rise to stop the illigal entry of Bangladeshis from unsecured border. These people come in India and cause so much trouble. Almost 15% of Jaipur Labour is Bangladeshi. Where did they come from? How they got rashan cards and other papers to show that they are in jaipur from birth.
  Ofcourse these people does not have any ainity with India. It’s not their motherland. They all are opportunist. Stop there deseased spread in Indian cities.
  Also stop these SAMJHOTA EXPRESS and such stupid measures to bridge gap between amputed limbs. Reattachment does not work. And India does not want attach rotten limb that was amputed during partition.
  Shame on people who help terrorist. Shame on people who comit such henious crime. Arrested terrorist must be hanged publicly in front of national TV and must be canned 60 times before hanging till death..

• this is just the beginning though matured enough to let us think that if things are not controlled there will be a time in India similar to SL and PAK from where people once come out they never want to go back to their own country…..why….everyone wants security and safety…no matter how better we grown economically and technologically if we cant assure safety of a common man we are going to be dumbbed like PAK…..allah in terrorist ko niste navood kare….aameen.
